My Comic

Old Dog and Coyote

For Language Arts, we were supposed to choose a wisdom tale and make a comic out of it. I chose Old Dog and Coyote.  I chose this because it had been one of my favorite wisdom tales that we’d read. The moral of this story (in my opinion) was that teamwork will work even in unlikely teams.

A wisdom tale is a story that doesn’t talk about anybody specific, so it can relate to anything, and it has a moral.

I created this comic using an app called Procreate for the drawings, and PicCollage to put all the drawings together. Procreate is a great app for drawing, it has all sorts of cool features and pens, so I could draw the grass with that easily, and PicCollage is an app where you can make collages, so I took screenshots of the drawings I made in Procreate and put them together in PicCollage.

This was pretty hard for me, as drawing is deeeeeeefinetly not where I shine, but it was fun, and I learned from this, so that’s good.

My Remote Week

Recently, after Thanksgiving break, my school had an all remote week, to be safe, since many people were traveling or had family or friends come in for the break. My school normally does a hybrid thing, where  half the school comes on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the other half come on Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless you’re all remote.

The all remote week was hard, but also easier, in a way. It was hard having call after call after call, but I finished my work earlier then I usually do, so that was good.

We’re going to have another week like this after winter break, and I’m going to try and make it very productive.

Sorry this is so short! Thank you for reading!

Gratitude

With everything going on in the world right now, I think it’s especially important to be grateful for the thing you have. Maybe you don’t like your dinner, but there are some people out there who can only dream of even having daily meals. Just think about things like that.

Of course, maybe everybody tries to be a little extra grateful around now, since it’s almost Thanksgiving. Maybe not.

My family has this tradition where when we’re eating Thanksgiving dinner, we go around the table and say one or two things that we’re grateful for. Maybe other people do something like that, I don’t know.

But, all I’m saying is, please try to be grateful. Not just now, but all the time. Appreciate what you have.

Sorry this post was kind of short. Bye! 🙂

What I’m Reading Right Now

Lodestar, the 5th book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series.

I am currently reading Lodestar by Shannon Messenger, the fifth book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series.

This is a really good book. I can’t really tell you much about it, as it would include spoilers for the previous books in the series, but I’ll tell you about the first book! 🙂 This series is fantasy. The first book is just called Keeper of the Lost Cities.

Sophie Foster has always been different. Ever since she was five years old, when she hit her head and  passed out, she’s been able to hear the thoughts of others, and she doesn’t know why, and she’s never been able to tell anyone.
And if this isn’t bad enough, she has to live as a twelve-year old high school senior. She doesn’t want the attention that this gives her— she always wears dull-colored clothes and she stays in the back, but this rarely helps.

But when she’s on a field trip to a museum, she meets a boy named Fitz — and everything changes.

She learns that he’s a Telepath too, and that neither her nor him are human —they’re both elves, and the elves  aren’t exactly helping Santa in the North Pole. They’re hidden away, and in the Lost Cities (the hidden cities the elves live in) everything seems so perfect. All elves are powerful, and rich, and beautiful. But this doesn’t make them perfect, and Sophie soon realizes there’s a lot more going on under the surface than most people realize. And it’s up to her to help.

This series is amazing and I highly recommend it. (I had been trying to get my friend Meera to read it for ages, and she finally gave in, and now she’s obsessed with the series, and she normally doesn’t really enjoy series like this — so I think it’s a pretty good series for everybody.) In fact, book 8.5, Unlocked, is coming out in five days! (As of November 12th.) Well, yeah! That’s all I have to say!

Thanks for reading this! Bye! 🙂

What I Notice

What do you notice? If you sat on a bench outside for ten minutes, what would you notice? If you looked at a tree, would you notice the leaves, or the bark, or the branches? Do you notice people’s body language, do you notice people’s clothes?

I notice the very small, very weird things. There may be an alien invasion going on, but if there are two squirrels fighting over an acorn at the same time, chances are I’ll notice the squirrels.

Also, I notice people’s eyes. I’m really good at reading people’s emotions, and looking at people’s eyes has a lot to do with that. If somebody’s eyes look down for a second then quickly look back at you, then they’re either upset, hurt, or embarrassed. If somebody’s eyes are darting all over the place, the chances are they’re nervous.

Around people I don’t know, I tend to actually be kind of quiet, so I spend a lot of time just looking. Noticing random shapes everywhere. Seeing letters in in the ground.
And, I think that’s it! Thanks for reading this! Bye!

The Changing Seasons

Hi, whoever’s reading this. I just wanted to say before I start this that this is my first post, so it’s probably going to be awful, sorry. 🙁
It’s fall now, and the air’s crisp, the leaves have started to fall, it’s cold in the mornings and hot in the afternoons. In the picture above, you can see the leaves are really just starting to change color. But that’s here, in North Carolina. I really love the fall, but it isn’t super unique or amazing to me anymore. Just like it normally starts snowing in late January, and that continues until almost March, the air slowly starts growing warmer in spring, but somehow that doesn’t seem to last very long as dear old hot, humid, summer comes in. I feel like if the seasons had personalities, spring would be sweet and happy, fall would be shy but sometimes it would a little cold, winter would probably be not exactly nice, but not super mean (I mean, I love winter, my birthday’s in winter,) and summer would kind of be very loud and outgoing, and whenever it entered a room, it would be like BAM! HERE I AM, PEOPLE OF PLANET EARTH!!! (Well, I guess if we’re talking about if the seasons were people, then I wouldn’t say it, I would say she, or he, or they, etc, but whatever, this is hypothetical.)

One reason I love fall is Halloween, honestly. I mean, candy, costumes, scaring people (MUAHAHA), what’s not to like? Well, I guess if you have somebody jumping out and shouting BOO at you 24/7 then it won’t be very fun. If you are that person jumping out and scaring people… I APPLAUD YOU. Well, unless you’re actually scaring people, in which, be careful, because I feel like they would try and get revenge, and, also, maybe you should ask them if they mind it.

This is longer then I thought it would be, huh. Anyway, back to the seasons. I remember one time when I was about six, my cousin, who lives in Florida, came up for my birthday, I think. And it was her first time seeing snow. That seemed a little odd to me at the time, but a lot of places in world it doesn’t snow, ever.

Well, if you actually  read all of this, thanks so much! Bye!
